Jávea is about 90-100 km from Alicante airport (1 h 15 min by car) and 110 km from Valencia (1 h 20 min). There is no train to Jávea: you arrive by car, taxi, private transfer or bus with a change in Dénia or Benidorm. Once here, a car is strongly recommended because the old town, the harbour and the Arenal are several kilometres apart.
Times and services are indicative: confirm bus timetables and parking rules before travelling, as they change with the season.
Which airport to fly into
Alicante-Elche has the widest choice of international flights and is the airport most of our guests use. Valencia is a comfortable alternative if the timings suit you better; driving times are very similar.
If you land late or travel with children, a pre-booked private transfer is usually calmer than looking for a taxi on arrival.

Do you need a hire car?
Jávea is not a compact town: the historic centre, the harbour and the Arenal are three separate hubs, and many villas sit on hillside urbanisations. A car gives you freedom for the coves, the markets and day trips to Dénia, Moraira or Guadalest.
If you plan to stay mostly at the villa, you can combine taxis with a hire car for a couple of days. Book early for July and August, when demand pushes prices up.
Getting around: taxi, bus and on foot
There are taxi ranks in the town and at the harbour, plus a phone service all year. In summer, book ahead — especially after dinner.
A local bus links the three hubs in high season with limited frequency, useful for simple journeys. Walking is a pleasure within the old town, the harbour and the Arenal promenade, but not between them.

Parking: what really matters in summer
Parking is the weak point in July and August. The Arenal has paid areas near the promenade and free streets slightly further back. At southern coves such as Granadella, access fills up by mid-morning and is sometimes restricted.
Local rule of thumb: coves before 10:00 or after 17:00, and a small car if you can choose.
